Fueled by sleep deprivation (go figure), and an obsession with song writing that inhabits almost all of my waking hours, I have managed to write and produce 2 albums in a very short period of time. Album number 3, with the current working title, Written in the Stars, (my newest song), is well under way. Although the genre of my music has not been defined, the work stands out as evocative music that takes its listeners through a veritable kaleidoscope of colors and feelings. This is due in great part to a truly gifted ensemble of celebrated musicians from the blues, soul, rock and classical realms that go straight to the heart of what I’ve been able to achieve. The Tom Ralston Music core group features 16 players that combine to form a horn, string, vocal and rhythm section. The result is sonically bold, and the performances, I am proud to say, have been received with overwhelming support and enthusiasm.
The aggregate total of years that the Nomad and Nightingale band has accrued in rehearsals, recording sessions, spontaneous jams and live concerts is well over 500. A great many of these live performances have been at revered venues like Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, The Grand Ole Opry, The Hollywood Bowl, and others. These musicians have played as band members with The Temptations, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Lacey J. Dalton, Patti Austin, Booker T., and host of other legendary names. My passion is to write songs that feature an amalgamation of instruments and voices. The uniquely dynamic sound of the band members I am honored to play with has resonated with audiences to an exhilarating degree. My newest song, Written in the Stars exemplifies this sound and should be released in 2019.
